Incentivizing & Make a left at Greenland

Until recently I have been enjoying the warmest winter of my life.
But the Arctic Vortex has rudely reached this peninsula, and now like so many others I am counting the days to spring. I am grateful to have something to look forward to...

The art of gratefulness has been the thread holding the Tuesday 9:30 hot yoga class together since Thanksgiving. A little core work to free up the body and a little gratefulness practice to free up the mind balances out the class. I hope the yogis like it.
A reading of Jeanie Manchester's poem was a favorite.

I am grateful for my limits
that teach me patience and pace
I am grateful for challenge, defeat, and loss
They teach me hope is not a light at the end of the dark tunnel

It’s the ember burning within me that I forgot to fan

I am grateful to my teachers

for introducing me to myself

I am grateful for my past

that has delivered me to my present

I am grateful for all I have found and all I have lost

Both remind me I can live with and without

I am grateful for silence and for laughter

And for my ears that can hear both

I am grateful to my heart

that beats and breaks and heals

I am grateful for the fullness of my life

For the brief, heartbreaking, heartwarming fullness of life.
From Thanksgiving to Superbowl there is a lot to update...my lack of blogging was a disappointment to the primate and as I attempt to bring everything current I see how much I have to be grateful for.

#116. Kale is King

#117 I had a hankering for meatloaf: A compromise: string beans, shrimp, and mashed potatoes.

#118. Nawab with Glynis and Sherry
Thanksgiving Eve prep.

Grammercy Tavern's ginger bread

#119. Healthy warm up to tomorrow's feast

Caramel for something?

All hands on deck.

Pat is man enough to set a beautiful table.

She knows how to incentivize.

Made in Mathews

Made in Mathews tour coincided with the first day of open shotgun deer hunting. Kimberly and I weaved in and out of too many guns and so did the boys on their bike ride.

Christmas Eve. No pics of dinner! For #121 replace the Harvest decor in #120 with Pointsetta and add Terry, John, Soquel, and Bill.
But I did get a picture of the butternut squash prep and the happy dance pumpkin cheesecake.

Christmas in the garage while avoiding getting hit by a propeller.

There was more merriment in CW too.

This was briefly Terry's choice of house colors.

CW Wreath
Jae Sinnett concert

and even a moving day.
Church Hill restaurant, yes I see a resemblance.

#122 @ Church Hill
We toured Monument Ave. while waiting to put Pat on the bus from hell at midnight.

#123. It's January, Lentil Soup

#124. Comfort

#125. Made it twice it was so good, but I can't remember where or what. I'll keep looking so that I can make it again.

Super Bowl was trumped by a marathon of Say Yes to the Dress.
A revived workout schedule is in progress. There is cadence in the gym too. Ashley Borden The shoulder is under advisement...more data is needed, but the Primate is biking all over the Virginia  countryside. Pat is spinning and Bren is about to have some fun teaching at Bouley Botanical. Incentivizing, a process taught to me by Kimberly, was employed by me to facilitate a small change in the Primate's behavior. The outcome was miraculous.

"Make a Left at Greenland" in the title is a puzzle. It is an answer to a question. I'd like to know if anyone knows what the question was and the name of the person who answered it.

    2. You win my undying admiration. But really for a Beatle fan like you, it was a softball.

    3. your undying admiration is a win enough for me, luv.
it was an easy one. fortunately, you didn't ask who was the walrus. john sang ' i am the walrus' on the original but then on 'glass onion' sings 'the walrus was paul.' ahh, those lads just loved to keep us on our toes!
      talk to you soon.
with love from me to you

    1. Helen Clare, I expound on Mathews in the Feb 13 post. Hope that satisfies you! Can't wait til you get out of the NY snow and see the Va snow. Luckily ours did just turn to rain! Maybe it will be nonexistant.
